Roy Beyer is a proud father of three and a grandfather to six precious grandchildren. They are his inspiration - the reason he continues to engage in the ‘political arena’, especially during moments when stepping back would be more convenient.

Roy was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, to a German immigrant family. His father’s vivid stories of his childhood in Hitler’s Germany left a lasting impact on him.

Growing up, his family and most of their family friends shared this German heritage -decent, kind, and hardworking people. This led him as a young man to wrestle with aprofound question: How could such a well-educated, and seemingly good peopleallow themselves to go down the path of deception and evil under Hitler’s Germany?

In seeking answers, he developed a deep interest in history, religion and politics, along with a profound understanding of both the value as well as the frailty of democracy and freedom.

Roy was profoundly shaped by the generosity of Canada—a nation that welcomed so many German immigrants, even after two world wars in which Canadians had fought and sacrificed so much in defeating Germany. This generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on him, including love of country and the values Canada once stood for.

Most importantly, Roy was raised in a Christian home where faith was the cornerstone of their lives. That foundation continues to guide him today. It’s from this heritage that his

dedication for public service arose including to always defend faith, family, and freedom as foundational to a lasting civil society.
