~ Founding President of a Canada Family Action Coalition (CFAC), a national citizen action organization with a vision to promote and defend Judeo-Christian values in Canada through education and citizen action.
~ CFAC’s very first campaign (1997) was for religious broadcast freedom in Canada; at the time Canada and Cuba were the only nations in the western hemisphere to not permit singe faith radio or tv broadcasting.
Roy's ‘first career’ was as an ordained minister with the Victory Churches of Canada, serving in various leadership capacities, including Youth and Associate Pastor (Lethbridge), Senior Pastor (Bow Island, Medicine Hat and Edmonton), Founding
Director of VCOCI (1988), as well as Regional Director for the North Alberta Region (1993 – 2001).
He proudly and fondly remembers; it was in my parent’s living room (early spring of 1979) when a group of about 10 gathered to agree on a plan to start what would become the first Victory Church in Lethbridge, Alberta with George and Hazel Hill at the helm. It was truly a pioneering and grassroots effort that would spread like a grassfire with the gospel message of love, hope and freedom across Canada and then globally.
Roy wishes to acknowledge the unique and visionary leadership of Pastors George and Hazel Hill in their encouragement for him to follow his path of activism in the political arena. Even as an Associate or Senior Pastor with Victory Churches, Roy was
supported in being much more political than most, recognizing the importance of Christians being actively engaged in every sphere of societal influence to especially include education, media, and politics.
It was their support first, then from within the Victory Church family and then beyond to allow me to launch Canada Family Action Coalition, with our first big battle being for religious broadcast freedom in Canada. To everything there is a time and a season, and I am thankful for all of them.
